A graduate course on the exchange of water and energy between the land surface and the atmosphere. Topics include moist air and atmospheric stability, radiation and the surface energy budget, soil heat flux and flux measurement, the general circulation and climate models, cloud and precipitation processes and the analysis of precipitation, turbulence and the atmospheric boundary layer, surface-layer similarity and aerodynamic resistance, canopy exchange and evaporation theory, daily estimates of evaporation, land-surface models, and land–atmosphere feedbacks.
