Teaching
Courses in the Department of Civil Engineering, Jeonbuk National University. Each course is introduced in English and Korean.
Engineering Hydrology ·
An introduction to the hydrologic cycle and the quantitative tools used to design and operate water infrastructure. Topics include precipitation analysis, evaporation and infiltration losses, runoff and hydrograph analysis, the unit hydrograph, flood routing through reservoirs and channels, and the estimation of design floods.
Hydraulics · 수리학
The fundamentals of fluid mechanics applied to civil engineering problems. Topics include fluid properties, hydrostatic pressure and forces on submerged surfaces, the continuity, energy, and momentum equations, flow in pipes and pipe networks, and uniform and gradually varied flow in open channels.
Physical Hydrology ·
A graduate course on the physical processes that move water through the land surface and the lower atmosphere. Starting from the water and energy balances, it covers precipitation, radiation and the surface energy balance, evaporation and evapotranspiration (Penman–Monteith, Priestley–Taylor, and the complementary relationship), snowmelt, soil water and infiltration, groundwater flow, runoff generation, catchment water balance and the Budyko framework, and hydrology in a changing climate.

Statistical Hydrology ·
Probability and statistics for hydrologic data and design. Topics include probability distributions used in hydrology, parameter estimation by moments, L-moments, and maximum likelihood, frequency analysis of floods, rainfall, and droughts, goodness-of-fit testing, intensity–duration–frequency relationships, and the treatment of trends and nonstationarity.
